Caribbean Kalooki is a card game made by ScottWay Labs Limited, a company in Jamaica ("we", "us"). This page explains, in plain words, what the game keeps about you, why, and how to have it deleted.
The short version
- You can play against the computer without giving us anything.
- To play online you make a character: a name, a country and a picture from the game's own avatars.
- We ask for an email address so we can reach you about your account. Emails about news and offers are only sent if you tick the box to say yes.
- We don't show ads, we don't sell your information, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
- You can delete your account at any time from inside the game.
What we keep, and why
- Your character: the name, country and avatar you choose, and your rating. Other players see these at the table and on the leaderboards.
- Your email address (typed by you, or taken from Google if you choose "Continue with Google"), and whether you said yes to news and offers by email. Other players never see your email.
- Your game results: scores, wins and placings, for the leaderboards and the weekly cups.
- Table talk: messages you send at an online table are passed to the other players at that table so they can read them. The last few lines are kept in the server's memory only while the table is open, then they are gone. A word filter stars out rude words, and you can mute or report another player from the chat panel.
- Sign-in with Google or Apple: we keep only a scrambled number made from your account. It is used to count the free tables you have hosted. It does not contain your name or email.
- A random key made by the game on your phone, so the server knows it is you when you come back.
Purchases
"Support the Game & Unlock Tables" is a one-time purchase made through Google Play or the Apple App Store. Google or Apple handle the payment; we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to confirm your purchase and to let you restore it. We keep a record of each sale (the date, the store and any creator code used) for our accounts. That record holds no name or email.
Your recorded "CALL!"
If you record your own voice saying "CALL!", the recording stays on your phone. It is never sent to us or to other players. The game uses the microphone only while you are recording.
Who else handles your information
- Render runs our game server, and our database provider stores the information above, in the United States.
- RevenueCat confirms purchases.
- Google and Apple, if you choose to sign in with them, and for payments.
We don't sell or rent your information to anyone, and we don't share it for advertising.
Keeping it safe
Information travels between the game and our server over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
Our server keeps short technical logs to spot problems and abuse. When a connection hits one of our limits (for example, too many new characters at once), the log notes its network address. Our host keeps these logs for a short time.
Reports
If you report a player, we keep your email and what you told us for as long as we need to deal with it.
How long we keep it
We keep your character and results until you delete your account. Characters that are never used may be removed to make room for new players. Backup copies of our data are cleared within 30 days.
Deleting your account
In the game: open your Profile and tap Delete my account. It happens straight away.
Can't open the game? Email us at scottwaylabs@icloud.com with the subject "Delete my Caribbean Kalooki account" and your character's name. We'll delete it within 30 days.
Deleting removes your character (name, country, picture, rating), your email and your email choice, and all your results. Two things stay, without your name or email: the record of any sale (we must keep our accounts), and the scrambled sign-in number, so free tables can't be claimed again by deleting and starting over. A purchase belongs to your Google or Apple account, and "Restore my purchase" brings it back.
Children
Caribbean Kalooki is not made for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has made an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
